Offline Mode

This mode is used when:

  • There is no separate server for information storage;
  • Analysts work in different networks.

If this mode is selected, then each user should have a node-locked Business Studio license on the computer. He/she exports some data from the main database, modifies it and then import it back into the main database. They can export/import:

  • An activity. An activity object and its diagram are exported. The user can:
    • Modify diagram arrows and relationships;
    • Delete activities;
    • Create new activities and edit their properties.

Note that if one user modifies activity properties in the main database and another user modifies the same properties in another database and then import the modified data into the main database, changes made by the first user will be lost.

  • An activity and its descendants. Any modifications are allowed for the exported model branch.
  • Group filter or management method object filter. All objects related to the management method object or group are exported.
  • The whole database.

When you import the modified objects and repositories back into the main database, Business Studio checks, if these objects were modified in the main database. In case they were, it asks if the import should be cancelled or if the objects in the main objects should be replaced by those that are imported (with or without adding the copies). You can compare the two objects and their diagrams before making a decision.
