Database Conversion

A database is converted to ensure that a database created with the previous Business Studio version can be opened with the new Business Studio version.

Conversion Requirements:

• Make sure that Microsoft Visio Standard/Professional/Premium 2013/2016/2019/2021 is setup on the computer where conversion is started. This is needed to convert diagrams from MS Visio format into the built-in editor format. Please note that conversion must be started from Business Studio of the same bit depth as the installed MS Visio.
• It is highly recommended that computer where conversion is performed, belongs to the same domain as database users.
• Only database administrator can perform the conversion.
• It is required to possess node-locked or floating Business Studio license to perform the conversion.
• The system will recommend you to create a database backup just before starting the conversion. In case you haven’t got one, make sure you follow the recommendation (see Save Database to File for delails).
• All other applications must be closed before the conversion.

  Recommendations on how to minimize conversion time:

• It is recommended to use a 64-bit Business Studio version.
• In case you use the client-server installation option of Business Studio, perform the conversion on the database server if Business Studio server is installed on it.

Warning! Conversion may take a long time depending on the amount of information in the database.

In case you receive any messages as a result of the conversion and you need comments, or conversion ended up with errors, please contact our support team by support@umalogic.com. We ask you to attach the following data to the email:

• a link to the database backup made before a conversion. Any file-sharing resource may be used;
• information about messages received and/or errors occurred (text and screenshots).
